But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
James 1:25
At the Chapel in the Hills, small groups gather throughout the week to apply the command in James 1:25, "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."
Therefore, we seek to apply the sermon each week by discussing thoughtful questions that are prepared by our teaching pastors, as we encourage one another in our walk with the Lord.
These groups also help us to care for one another as Jesus commanded (c.f. John 13:34-35). The “one another” commands are extremely important within the Christian life and community, and they simply cannot be fulfilled on Sunday morning alone. This is why the Church must commit to live life together in community.
You can expect an open and honest discussion of God’s Word and to be prayed for and deeply loved. Here at the Chapel, we do not believe that each group should be a mirror image of one another. Rather, each individual group is unique and takes on the character of the group. That being said, each group is focused on applying the Word each week.

More about why we gather in small groups.
As image bearers of our Triune God, we are called to live in community with one another. When we attempt to live outside the Body of Christ, our spiritual growth is hindered. Lone-wolf Christianity simply does not work. Worse yet, when we live outside of the Body of Christ, we actually hinder the growth of other disciples of Jesus as we are denying them the spiritual gifting that God has given us to serve His Church. This world is far too complex, dark, and tempting to walk alone. CGs are a place where we can carry out the one-another commands in Scripture to edify and equip each other for Gospel ministry for the glory of our King.
CGs are also a means of reaching others for Christ. Oftentimes the church service can be intimidating for non-believers. CGs, then, can serve as a stepping stone to becoming more comfortable with the church. When our non-believing family and friends see us living in light of the Gospel in a caring community, it serves as a powerful testimony to the radical love of God (John 13:34-35).
